If you love intense fantasy series' with a lot of action and a diverse set of characters, you can't go wrong with author Dane Richter's "Hunt for the Star". This is the first book in what promises to be an epic fantasy series and I loved every minute of this adventure. The story of an epic journey (think LOTR) in the search for The Eldon Star. The journey is begun by Artos, an older warrior, who believes that everything he is doing is for the good of his family and the world, yet makes some questionable choices along the way. His nephew, Ethan, becomes a very strong hero in this series and was actually my favorite character. There is a lot of great action, intense conflicts, and vividly descriptive scenery in this one. Great read.

I absolutely loved this read! I had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The character development was fantastic and I still have a very dear place in my heart for Keral. There was never a dull moment throughout the entire book and I was sad for it to end. Can't wait for the next book to continue this gripping story!
Bought it, loved it, and would recommend anyone looking for an adventure of a lifetime to read immediately!

Dane Richter has written some Fantasy books and I've just read the first two (an honour to have read the manuscript to number 2 before being published, thanks Dane!). Cracking sojourn into the world of Fantasy for a new and upcoming Perth author. The first book is a grand read and the quality of ideas is on par with something J.K. Rowling would pen. The second book is well developed with clever and original ideas, a step up from scene set in the first tome and a pleasure to see such talent develop. I could draw some parallels with a certain current book/TV series but I believe this work is worthy of standing on it's own merit. Looking forward to the third installment.
This book is a thrilling read, with just enough of the hallmarks of classic fantasy to satisfy without being too generic, and plenty of new surprises and thrilling action.

The characters are really well-written, and the settings imaginative and I can't wait to see how they develop further in the coming books.

Its great to see characters that aren't one-dimensional, with their own motivations, inner conflicts and personality strengths, both the heroes, and villains, who interact with each other within a great plot line including a quest for an important artefact that can mean the difference in the war against an evil and powerful sorcerer.

I don't want to mention too much about it in case I ruin it, but I definitely recommend you give it a read. I am looking forward to the release of the next book.
I enjoyed Hunt for the Star on so many levels! This is the next series that I'm obsessing over, much like I did with Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. You can tell that this is such a well thought out book and that it's going to be one of those memorable series. It's the perfect mixture of an epic fantasy and action, set in medieval times. It's an ultimate battle of good and evil as they fight for power of The Eldon Star. I highly recommend this book, and can't wait to read the next.
My favourite genre done to perfection! I am a fantasy lover so this book did not disappoint. I couldn’t put it down, once I opened it and read the first few pages I knew I was hooked. The author does an outstanding job of bringing such depth and fullness to all of his characters, I may as well have been sitting on Artos’ shoulder, and Ruehl watching over his armies was so vivid. Each scene was more brilliant than the one before it, I cannot recommend this book enough to any and all fantasy readers out there, this is the one to get!!
'Hunt For The Star" is an amazing fantasy epic and is book one in what promises to be a fantastic series. Richter is quite a talented writer and posses the ability to bring his characters, no matter what species they may be, to life with vivid descriptions and strong story lines. The "star" in question is a crystal known as the Eldon Star and is said to possess strong magical powers. The story is exciting and filled with adventure after adventure. This could easily translate into a fantastic movie or series of movies that I would be sure to stand in line to see.
It's started off a bit slow, and overly wordy, but by the end of the first paragraph, it got my attention. If you like action/adventure stories, you'll enjoy Hunt for the Eldon Star. The characters are for the most part good, a few are a bit two dimensional, but it doesn't distract from the story line.

Boyhood friends are enlisted during a time of impending war, drafted by an veteran soldier, and gathering others, such as a half-elf that looks like a boy, as they go along. They quest for The Star, while avoiding murderous Krokos, and other critter equally bent on their destruction, to find and stop The Sorcerer. Will they succeed in their objective? Sorry, to know the answer you will have to read the book... oh wait, it's book #1, so I guess we all have to wait.

Although it has some pretty gruesome descriptive acts of violence, I think this book is aimed for younger readers. Not saying it's bad, but it's a bit immature with certain dialogs. This of course could be because of how young the author was when he wrote it. ) But it's still a good read.
